Further to the completion of Basingstoke Joint Cadet Centre (JCC), we are pleased to announce that the refurbishment of Waterlooville JCC has also been completed. This included the relocation of No6 Cowplain Platoon, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Army Cadet Force (ACF) into 2260 (Waterlooville) Squadron ATC to form the new JCC.
The key objectives the team were looking to deliver were as follows:
Create space to accommodate No6 Cowplain Platoon (ACF) through office, stores and teaching space whilst utilising the existing building footprint.
Installation of a Disability Discrimination Act 1999 (DDA) compliant accessible external ramp, widening of internal door openings plus improvement to the floor coverings throughout the building through the installation of robust commercial vinyl floor covering.
Refurbish toilet and wash hand facilities incorporating separation between Cadet Force Adult Volunteer (CFAV) and Cadets for both males and females plus introduction of DDA facilities.
Refurbish existing and creation of additional WC facilities incorporating separation between Cadet Force Adult Volunteer (CFAV) and Cadets for both males and females plus introduction of DDA WC.
Improve fire compartmentation and safety through replacement door sets, additional fireproof lining of inadequately protected existing walls and provision of direct routes of travel to final place of safety.
Improve welfare facilities plus teaching space through refurbishment and redecoration of the Servery, Classrooms plus creation of a dedicated room for the ATC Squadron Flight Simulator, Online Cyber Training and Radio Communications to compensate for space being rededicated for the ACF use.
With thanks to the Army HQ Reserve Estate Optimisation (REO) Team who funded this refurbishment alongside South East Reserve Force’s and Cadets’ Association.
Thanks must also go to the Project Design Team, Principal and Sub-Contractors whom have worked tirelessly to achieve another outstanding refurbishment for the Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAV) and Cadets.
