On Thursday 14th March, The Band of The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment were delighted to support the annual Regimental Dinner of the cadets at the Ark Alexandra Academy, Hastings.
For the PWRR Band, this was a return performance following a very successful visit in 2023 and a chance to renew old friendships from the previous year.
The annual Dinner is attended by training staff, cadets, friends and family, all served by the wonderfully talented GCSE Hospitality and Catering students. Following playing music through a drinks reception, it was into our dinner music programme, which included not only performing numbers from film and theatre but well-known pop songs (rock anthems!) by Bon Jovi, Queen and Robbie Williams….the latter artists seemed to go down extremely well with the cadets!
At the close, the Contingent Commander Nick Burchell as well as thanking the PWRR Band for their magnificent music, spoke about the incredible work the cadets do, praising those who are moving on and congratulating the new team in place that are replacing them in the recently vacated senior roles with their organisation.
A wonderful night and an evening the band are keen to repeat in 2025!
The Band of The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment was formed in 1993 and is one of 19 UK-based Army Reserve Bands. The Regiment, however (also known as the ‘Tigers’), can trace its lineage as far back as 1572, with its modern formations coming into force in 1992, on the amalgamation of the Queen’s Regiment and the Royal Hampshire Regiment.
As well as providing musical support to the population of Kent and The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, we deliver essential music capability to events and engagements across the UK and overseas. We have recently performed at the Birmingham International Tattoo, Winchester Cathedral and for the Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay. Additionally of late, we have undertaken deployments to Gibraltar, Cyprus, India, and Uzbekistan.
