The Isle of Wight Lord-Lieutenant Awards 2024

On Tuesday 1st October we held our Lord-Lieutenant awards for the Isle of Wight.

The Lord-Lieutenant, Mrs Susie Sheldon JP, presented four British Empire Medals, appointed two new Deputy Lieutenants and her four new Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets for the coming year. Alongside these there was the Best Reservist Award, kindly sponsored by SeaSafe Systems, a St John Ambulance Grand Priors Award, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary Exemplary Service Awards and HMP Long Service Awards.

Congratulations to all recipients! We were delighted to be able to recognise your achievements.

Thank you to 266 Port Squadron, 165 Port and Maritime Regiment RLC for your support on the evening and to the Medina Marching Band for their excellent fanfare.

The Lord-Lieutenant awards ceremony is a formal and prestigious event; recognising individuals who demonstrate the volunteer ethos and to build and nurture the enduring relationships that are so important to your County and local community. This is done through the awarding of Medals and His Majesty Lord-Lieutenant’s Certificates for Meritorious Service, amongst other awards.  His Majesty Lord-Lieutenant’s Certificates for Meritorious Service were instituted in order to afford public recognition to those members of the Reserve and Cadet Forces whose efforts are not recognised by the twice yearly Honours Lists.
