The Isle of Wight Lord-Lieutenant Awards 2023

On Tuesday 3rd October we held our Lord-Lieutenant awards for the Isle of Wight.

Alongside the presentation of a Meritorious Service Certificate, Best Reservist Award, Cadet Forces’ Medal and appointment of 3 Lord-Lieutenant Cadets, the Lord-Lieutenant also presented several State Awards. These included 2 British Empire Medals and other community focused awards including Hampshire Constabulary Exemplary Service Awards and HMP Long Service Awards.

A special mention must also go to Elizabeth Bilk, who was awarded the Royal British Legion Long Service Bar for an outstanding 70 years fundraising for the RBL.

Congratulations to all recipients! We were delighted to be able to recognise your achievements

Thank you to 165 Port and Maritime Regiment RLC for your support on the evening from 266 Port Squadron and to the Medina Marching Band for their excellent fanfare.

The Lord-Lieutenant awards ceremony is a formal and prestigious event; recognising individuals who demonstrate the volunteer ethos and to build and nurture the enduring relationships that are so important to your County and local community. This is done through the awarding of Medals and His Majesty Lord-Lieutenant’s Certificates for Meritorious Service, amongst other awards.  His Majesty Lord-Lieutenant’s Certificates for Meritorious Service were instituted in order to afford public recognition to those members of the Reserve and Cadet Forces whose efforts are not recognised by the twice yearly Honours Lists.
