Cadet Warrant Officer Bethan Holmes, of 1015 (Horsham) Squadron, has been awarded the prestigious Dacre Sword award, one of the highest honours available to a Cadet in the Royal Air Force Air Cadets.
The Dacre Sword is presented annually to the Cadet who has demonstrated exceptional leadership and personal development, commitment and service to the organisation. Bethan was selected from outstanding candidates across the UK, recognising years of dedication and consistently setting the highest standards for herself and those around her.
Throughout her Cadet career, Bethan has embraced every opportunity to develop her skills, excelling in leadership, instructional duties and representing the RAF Air Cadets at local, regional and national events. She is widely respected by her peers and adult volunteers alike for her professionalism, resilience and ability to inspire others.
Officer Commanding 1015 (Horsham) Squadron said:
“Bethan is an exceptional ambassador for the RAF Air Cadets. Her unwavering commitment, humility and outstanding leadership have made a lasting impact on everyone she has worked with. Winning the Dacre Sword is a thoroughly deserved recognition of everything she has achieved, and we are incredibly proud of her.”
When asked what the award meant to her, CWO Holmes said:
“Looking back on my journey through the Air Cadets, I feel immensely grateful for everyone who has supported, challenged, and believed in me along the way. I see this award not just as a personal achievement, but as a reflection of the guidance, and encouragement I’ve received throughout my 4 years in the Air Cadets. I am immensely grateful for the opportunities I have been afforded and hope to continue giving back to the organisation that has given me so much.”
