We are delighted to announce that the refurbishment of the Army Cadet Force/ RAF Air Cadets Basingstoke Joint Cadet Centre (JCC) has now been completed.
The project was funded by South East Reserve Force’s and Cadets’ Association along with the Army HQ Reserve Estate Optimisation (REO) Team and HQ RAF Air Cadets (RAFAC) in order for the Army Cadet Force (ACF) and Air Training Corps (ATC) to continue offering the ‘Cadet Experience’ to the young people of Basingstoke and surrounding areas by ‘Providing the best place to work and train.’
The key objectives the team were looking to deliver were as follows:
Create additional space to accommodate No7 Old Basing Platoon (ACF) through office, stores and teaching space as well as utilising existing underused and deteriorated areas within the former TA Centre.
Improve the floor in the main hall through replacement substructure and robust commercial floor covering.
Refurbish toilet and wash hand facilities incorporating separation between Cadet Force Adult Volunteer (CFAV) and Cadets for both males and females plus introduction of DDA facilities.
Improve building energy efficiency and reduce carbon footprint through replacement PVCu doors and windows, aluminium double glazed doors and curtain walling system to replace the deteriorated timber garage doors plus replacement gas boiler.
Improve fire compartmentation and safety through replacement door sets and reduced travel distances to final place of safety.
Improve welfare facilities and teaching space through refurbishment and redecoration of the servery, combined classrooms plus creation of a dedicated room to ATC Squadron Flight Simulator, Online cyber training and Radio Communications.
Improvements to the existing off road hard standing through reconfiguration plus improve the cosmetic external viewing of the building to the local community through repair, redecoration and the replacement of external doors and windows.
Thanks must go to the Project Design Team, Principal and Sub-Contractors whom have worked tirelessly to achieve another outstanding refurbishment for the Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAV) and Cadets.
