39th Signal Regiment deployed E-Troop, the readiness element that supports HQ ARRCs missions and tasks, to Salisbury Plain Training Area to conduct a bespoke Core Combat Skills (CCS) training package. The exercise weekend included basic infantry skills, next gen Comms, vehicle anti ambush drills and situational awareness training to consolidate soldiering skills needed to deploy on potential deployments within NATOs Strategic Reserve Corps. With the aid of instructors from 4PWRR, the Royal Signals Army Reserve soldiers were put through their paces in a challenging environment for CCS from the experts in the field. For the Situational Awareness, E-Troop found themselves outside of their comfort zone on a patrol where they came under contact from the enemy, were mugged, navigated an illegal VCP, protected a VIP from execution and delivered first aid to a complex mass casualty scenario with a hidden explosive thrown in for good measure.
